We don't associate Nietzsche with thumping basslines, but the man had a thing or two to say to about rhythm: “Rhythm is a compulsion; it engenders an unconquerable desire to yield, to join in; not only the stride of the feet but also the soul itself.”   

If portals are gateways that synchronize time and space, then poetry and rhythm may be among the oldest portals ever fashioned by humans. In this Study, we’ll step through thresholds that pull body and mind into a shared tempo, and ask what it might mean to be moved by something older than language.
