Volunteer Program
The Strother School of Radical Attention (SoRA), a leading non-profit initiative in ATTENTION ACTIVISM, is seeking volunteers!
This is a unique opportunity to get involved with a dynamic, community-driven organization. As a volunteer, you will play an integral role in the rapidly expanding scope of our in-person programs at the SoRA Sanctuary in DUMBO - from exhibition openings to community events and our signature program, Attention Labs. You will be a spokesperson for our organization towards new faces, and help enhance the accessibility and smooth logistical flow of our evening events. This is what a typical “shift” will look like:
Front door greeting: Usher visitors in through the front door, direct them to the seventh floor, and answer questions about location or our programs. Flag the event hosts of any access issues.
Sanctuary greeting: Welcome visitors through the sanctuary door, and answer questions about the event that evening and other programs. Flag the event hosts of any access issues.
Assist event hosts with setting up tables and any equipment needed for the program.
During the event, mingle with the participants, make them feel comfortable, and help them gain a holistic understanding of what SoRA is all about. We seek an enthusiastic “what can I help with?” attitude.
Assist event hosts with breaking down the set up, and basic housekeeping of the space after the program ends.
Volunteer hours can be used for high-school and college internship credits, as well as toward non-profit volunteer hours.
