Text: "A Cyborg Manifesto" by Donna Harraway
Date: Wed, June 18th at 7pm
Location: Downtown Brooklyn with Cam My & Alice
Donna Haraway’s famous "ironic political myth" of the cyborg doesn’t need saving — it endures through contradiction. Neither hero nor victim, it slips through the cracks of dominant systems as an “illegitimate offspring” of militarism and patriarchal capitalism that turns against its makers. It organizes not through purity or return to an imagined past, but through refusal, perversity, and unexpected connection.
This Study takes up the cyborg as a figure of post-redemptive politics: one that refuses innocence and invites us to confront our complicity. We’ll practice cyborg modes of attention. Together, we’ll ask: What becomes possible when we stop longing for Eden? What kinds of politics emerge when we recognize our own desires and dependencies?
