Attention Scholars (6/23/25-6/27/25)

The Attention Scholars Summer Academy is a week-long immersive program designed to help students critically explore their relationships to attention—how it’s built, shaped, taken, and how it can be reclaimed. Through guided discussions, attention exercises, collaborative projects, and seminars led by SoRA faculty, students will engage with the three core frameworks: attention ecology, attention economy, and attention activism.

This week will end with the launch of a HCHS Attention Activism Club Proposal.

PROGRAM GOALS

By the end of the week, students will:

  • Develop a generous, complex, personal and collective understanding of attention.

  • Understand and distinguish the concepts of attention ecology, attention economy, and attention activism.

  • Be equipped to resist the extractive forces of the attention economy—through both reflection and collective organizing.

  • Gain tools to create sanctuaries of attention in their schools and communities.

  • Create and present a detailed proposal for launching an Attention Activism Club at HCHS
