Sidewalk Study OAKLAND, CA: SLEEPING GRACE

“Separated by oceans and by time, I’d like to be able to tell you…” This study invites us to reflect on experiences that are difficult or impossible to convey to loved ones with whom we no longer live, or no longer see. What lived conditions put a strain on our capacity to communicate  images and feelings? How are emotional ties severed and preserved in our attempts to share them with others?

Text: Cristina Peri Rossi’s “Poem XXVI” (translated by Marilyn Buck) from State of Exile (2003)
