Hauntings take many forms. Drawing upon the work of Akbar Abbas and Ocean Vuong, this Study asks how we can locate ourselves when our relationships to land and memory are constantly changing. How do we relate to a place when it is constantly being remade by colonial power, economic flows, and cultural pressures? How does this ongoing dislocation change the identity of people and of peoples?
Join us as we explore these questions in one of our city’s most mercurial neighborhoods. How do we know ourselves and the places we call home when we are also grieving and yearning for a motherland, people, and time that no longer exists? What if the history that haunts us never existed at all?
