In the classic story The Aleph, a hidden point in a dark basement reveals  a dizzying portal: a single point where every place, object, and moment in the entire universe exists simultaneously. To gaze into it is to see everything at once, from every angle, without overlap or distortion.

This breathtaking portal gives us everything we think we want, but we cannot hold onto everything. Total vision overwhelms us, and no matter how intensely we witness a moment, our capacity to retain it is fragile. In this study, we’ll consider how we prepare for the quiet reality that even in moments of great attentiveness, “forgetfulness seeps in.”
