Text: Book of Five Rings by Miyamoto Musashi & The Psychoanalytic Zero by Koichi Togashi
Guides: Staoue & Nicholas
Place: Five Points (aka TriBeCa)
How do we know something is dangerous? Where does that vibe come from? And what do we do with it?
The Book of Five Rings was written in 1625 by the Japanese swordsman Miyamoto Musashi. It outlines strategies and philosophies for dealing with conflict — and with the immediate bodily peril of battle-by-blades. Togashi's The Psychoanalytic Zero (2020) discusses how human minds process danger, confusion, and trauma.
We'll read these together, then explore ways to attend to dangerous vibes (real or imagined) in downtown Manhattan.
