Sidewalk Study: TO KNOW & BE KNOWN

Taste is not formed in isolation. We often find our cultural lodestars — be they books, movies, bands — through interpersonal relationships. In this Study, we’ll read excerpts from Hua Hsu’s memoir Stay True and consider how the sharing of taste can serve as a language that allows us to express our histories, anxieties, and desires to one another.

How — and with whom — do you build your personal canon? How has that process formed you? And what, exactly, is the relationship between the stuff that you like and the people that you love?
